The N scale mode railway system is very is a popular system because of it's size and easeability for placement in smaller areas. These are the railways that are often found in the basement because they are half the size of the popular HO scale trains. Depending on the country and manufacturer the N Scale trains are 1:148 to 1:160 scale. However, in all cases the N gauge (or guage as it's often mispled) refers to the distance between the rails which is 9 mm. Some famous N Scale tracks include the San Diego Model Railroad museum (largest in the world).
