Model Railroad train price guides are collected for two main purposes.
- The first to research the typical value of a persons collection of train pieces.
- The other and often under appreciated is that these price guides in themselves have value associated with them.
Whatever the purpose enjoy our price guides here at buymodelrailroadtrains.com
Please see our selection of great model train books below. Hopefully you'll be able to find something that you're looking for. We are always updating our stock so check back often.
O scale (or Gauge) are a commonly used train scale. It was first introduced in the 1900's by a german manufacturer, Marlin. The O Scale trains are called the 'common' train because the HO scale are half-of-O scale trains.
O scale had it's best days when model trains were considered toys rather then collectors items (or a hobby). Therefore, the O gauge trains are considered more durable, larger and typically have less details. The O scale trains are typically 1:43, 1:45 or 1:48th size ratio depending on manufacturer.
Here at buymodelrailroadtrains.com we have the following manufacturers of O scale trains.
In addition we have plenty of track and scenery.
Finally, check out the O gauge model train sets that we have below
HO Scale (or Gauge) Trains are the most popular scale of trains in the world. (Although, in the UK the OO gauge is more popular.). The HO Scale is approximately 1:87 the size of a real train and because it's approximately half the size of the O scale trains it is named the HO (Half of O) gauge.
The HO Scale model trains are often critized as being too fragile (or delicate). However, most people like the HO scale train size because you are able to fit twice as much stuff in your train model as you would a typical O scale model.
We have a wide range of HO Scale manufacturers everything from Accurail to Varney and everything in between. Check out all the HO Gauge manufacturers below or on the left sidebar.
In addition we have a collection of Track, Scenery and Buildings.

G Scale trains are one of the larger railroad modeling scales. It is often referred to as the indoor/outdoor model train because of it's size and durability. Because of this use people refer to the G Scale as the Garden Scale which is incorrect. It actually is from the German word groß (meaning "big").
The G Scale trains are typically used on a 45mm track this converts to a 1:22.5 ratio scale. However, in North America (United states) the G scale is typically called the 1:20.3 scale. This is because the narrow gauge of 3ft is used in the united states and the standard scale is used in Europe. In fact some train modellers and train producers call the 1:20.3 ratio the F Scale.
G Scale trains are a great way to have a larger model railway system in your house (or garden). Here at BuyModelRailRoadTrains.com we have the following G Scale brands.
The N scale mode railway system is very is a popular system because of it's size and easeability for placement in smaller areas. These are the railways that are often found in the basement because they are half the size of the popular HO scale trains. Depending on the country and manufacturer the N Scale trains are 1:148 to 1:160 scale. However, in all cases the N gauge (or guage as it's often mispled) refers to the distance between the rails which is 9 mm. Some famous N Scale tracks include the San Diego Model Railroad museum (largest in the world).
Check out the different manufacturers that we have featured here at buymodelrailroadtrains.com
In addition we have a collection of Buildlings (N), Scenery (N) and Track (N) for all of your N gauge model train needs. Finally, check out the full N scale train sets we have below.
S Scale Trains are a typical scale in model railroad trains. The S scale is often confused with the standard scale, however, these are two different types of scales. The S scale is a much smaller version of the standard scale and is typically 1:64th the standard scale.
Here at buymodelrailroadtrains.com we have the following manufacturers of S gauge (or S guage as it's often mispled) trains.
In addition we have a collection of Track and Scenery. Finally, we have the following S Scale model train sets
Z Scale model trains are the smallest model railroad train commercially available. The Z scale is typically referred to as the 1:220 th scale train and offers the same operating characteristics as all other two-track systems.
The Z scale trains are popular because of the possibility to create complex and large railway systems. In addition, the Z scale allows longer trains and smoother curves, thus making it a more realistic 'real world' scenario. However, the advantages of this systems is also the disadvantages as the weight of the engines is very limited and thus cleanliness is key with the Z gauge train set.
Here at buymodelrailroadtrains.com we have scenery, tracks and the following manufacturers: Marklin and Other Manufacturers.
OO Scale Trains are the most common scale (or gauge) of model trains in the UK. However, in north america these trains are typically a bit more rare. Interestingly enough, the OO scale trains can fit on the typical HO scale train tracks. However, the large propulsion mechanisms (of the H O gauge) could not fit into the small British prototypes.
Here at buymodelrailroadtrains.com we carry track, scenery and the following list of manufacturers.
